We pull the permit.
You don't.

Almost every permanent exterior sign in Orlando needs a municipal permit — and it's illegal to install one without it. We work with a licensed sign contractor and file the application with the City of Orlando or Orange County for you. And because we build under a UL license, your illuminated sign carries the UL label the electrical inspector looks for — without it, it cannot be approved.

Municipal review usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. Nothing is fabricated until the permit is approved.

  • UL-listed electric signs — the inspector cannot approve one without it
  • We file the application for you
  • Sealed engineering drawings included
  • Florida wind-load code (140–150 mph)
  • Notarized landlord authorization handled
  • You never deal with the city counter

From idea to lit sign

Every sign is different. Before anything is built, we review the building, the artwork, the code requirements and the landlord approvals so the plan matches the real job.

01

Show Us the Space

Send photos of the storefront, the frontage measurements if you have them, your logo, and what the landlord or plaza requires.

02

Design & Permit

We design the sign to your building and to code, then file the permit package with the city or county — drawings and engineering included.

03

Build & Install

Fabricated in our Orlando shop and installed by our crew once the permit is approved.

Exact timing depends on the sign type, the municipality, and the landlord approvals. Permit review is the longest part and is outside our control.

What business owners ask us first

How much does a sign cost?

It depends on the size, the sign type, whether it's illuminated, and what your municipality requires. Channel letters, a lightbox, and a monument sign are very different builds. Send us the storefront photo and your frontage and we'll come back with a real number — not a guess.

Do I need a permit? Do you handle it?

Almost every permanent exterior sign requires a municipal permit, and yes — we handle it. We work with a licensed sign contractor and file the application with the City of Orlando or Orange County, including the drawings and engineering they require. You don't go to the city counter.

How long does the whole thing take?

Municipal review typically runs 4 to 8 weeks, and nothing is fabricated until the permit is approved. Design and fabrication are scheduled around that. We give you the realistic sequence up front instead of a date we can't control.

My landlord or plaza has sign rules. Can you work with that?

Yes — plazas and landlords usually have a sign criteria package that dictates size, color, letter style and mounting. Send it to us and we design to it, along with the city code.

Can you repair or update the sign I already have?

Yes. Burned-out LEDs, faded faces, storm damage, or a name change on an existing cabinet — tell us what's happening and we'll review it.

What do you need to give me an estimate?

A photo of the storefront, the width of your frontage, your logo or artwork, whether you want it illuminated, and any landlord or plaza sign criteria. Plus your contact information.

Every sign project is different. Permit timelines, engineering requirements, material selection and installation scheduling are confirmed after the building, artwork and municipality are reviewed. Permit review times are set by the municipality and are outside our control. This page does not guarantee a universal timeline, cost, or approval outcome. Signs VW works with a licensed sign contractor to file permits; the contractor license is held by our partner.
